How To Stop Farmville And Other Annoying Facebook Apps From Posting To Your Newsfeed

Although Facebook is a website much loved by many people around the world, there are things about it that would try the patience of a saint. One of these is the constant stream of auto posts from Facebook friends concerning their activities when playing Farmville and other Facebook games.

If you are not a fan of Farmville, a bombardment of nonsense about how your friend just harvested some crops and the like can be an immense irritation. Fortunately there are several ways to rid yourself of this scourge.

One way to avoid seeing annoying autoposts about Farmville is to hide updates from an individual user. This is easily done on the Facebook newsfeed page. When you see a post from a particular user who spams Farmville on Facebook, seek out the ‘x’ on the screen to the right of the post. If you click on the ‘x’ with your mouse, you will be shown a list of options. One of these is to hide all postings by that person.

Stop Farmville Facebook Apps Posting NewsfeedOf course, there are two obvious flaws in this method. The first of these is that by hiding everything by that Facebook user, you may be filtering out some things you might still want to see. Of course, there are some people who do nothing but play Farmville all day and night, but most people do other things and some of their posts might be of interest to you, in which case a global hide for that user would be undesirable.

The second problem is that the user you are hiding might not be the only Farmville pest in your friends list. Hiding each user one at a time could be long winded and time consuming.

Fortunately, Facebook has introduced some helpful functionality to rid yourself of Farmville, or any other Facebook app for that matter. When you click on the ‘x’ referred to above, there is another option on the dropdown list that appears, which is to hide all output from the app responsible for the post (in this case Farmville). If you select that option, all Farmville related material will be hidden from you, regardless of the user responsible for it. Instant solution, and goodbye Farmville (or any other hated Facebook game or app).
