How To Delete Or Deactivate Your Facebook Account
Facebook has become one of the most popular websites in the world, and many people say they could not live without it. Of course, it has its advantages. It enables you to keep in touch with friends and relatives on a daily basis. On the other hand, there are quite a few people who end up becoming too obsessed with it, such that it eats up many hours of every day. If you are one of these people, and are aware you have become a Facebook addict, you may have wondered if it would be possible to delete your account.
Fortunately, Facebook offers two options for Facebook users who want to remove the temptation of Facebook from their lives. The first, and less drastic, option is to deactivate your account. This is in effect a temporary suspension of your account. Once deactivated, your account becomes invisible to anyone else.
To deactivate your Facebook account, you must go to the ‘Account’ dropdown menu and then choose ‘Account Settings’. Here you will find the ‘Deactivate’ option.
If you have deactivated your Facebook account, it is a simple matter to reactivate it if you decide you want to use the site again. To do this you simply enter your login details. Once logged in, your account will be restored in full.
For those who have a serious Facebook addiction and want to rid themselves of it, the ‘Deactivate’ function might not be enough, since it is easy enough to log back into an account at any time. In such cases there exists a second option, which is to permanently delete your account. This is not a step to be taken lightly, since the account cannot be retrieved once deleted
To delete your Facebook account you must submit a deletion request to Facebook at the following page:
https://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account.
After you have begun the delete process, it is still possible for a short time to cancel the delete request. This is achieved by logging back in to Facebook, which causes the pending delete request to be cancelled.
But do not play around with this delete feature. You must be completely sure you want to delete your Facebook account, because once deletion goes beyond pending and is actually carried out there is no way back. Your Facebook account and every single thing you and your friends ever posted on it will have ceased to exist.
